Lesson and Cancellation Policy
Lesson Policy
This document outlines the policies regarding lesson attendance, cancellations, payments, and general expectations for students of Janu Botes Guitar Lessons. By booking lessons, the student acknowledges and agrees to the following terms and conditions.
Lesson Cancellations and Rescheduling
All lessons must be cancelled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled time. Cancellations must be communicated directly via WhatsApp at 071 447 7224 or by email at janu96@icloud.com. The message must include the student’s full name and a brief reason for the cancellation. Cancellations made less than 24 hours prior to the lesson will be charged in full, and no make-up lesson will be provided. Students who fail to attend their lesson without prior notice, or who arrive more than 30 minutes late, will forfeit the lesson and be charged the full fee.
Emergency Exceptions
Exceptions to the 24-hour cancellation policy will only be considered in legitimate emergency situations. These include serious illness requiring medical attention (a doctor’s note may be requested), hospitalisation, death of an immediate family member, or major unforeseen incidents such as car accidents or natural disasters. The instructor reserves the right to determine whether the situation qualifies as an emergency. Work obligations, transport issues, or general inconvenience will not be accepted as valid reasons for last-minute cancellations.
Payment Policy
Lessons are billed in advance, either per lesson or as part of a monthly package. Missed or late-cancelled lessons, unless due to an approved emergency, are non-refundable. Lessons will be paused in the event of non-payment until the outstanding amount is settled.
Student Expectations
Students are expected to arrive on time, fully prepared, and equipped with their instrument and any required materials. Regular attendance and consistent practice are essential for progress. Repeated absences, tardiness, or a lack of preparation may result in the suspension or termination of lessons at the instructor’s discretion.
Public Holidays and Instructor Cancellations
Lessons that fall on official South African public holidays will be rescheduled in advance or cancelled without charge. If the instructor needs to cancel a lesson for any reason, the student will be offered a full refund or the option to reschedule.
Agreement
By booking and participating in lessons with Janu Botes, the student (or parent/guardian, where applicable) confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to all terms outlined in this policy.
